During the meeting, the prime minister told president Yadav that he wants to form a high level political mechanism comprising top leaders all the major parties to resolve the contentious political issues. Bhattarai said he would take initiatives for this after returning from New York. [break]
“I will try my best but I alone cannot conclude the tasks at hand. Hence the need for the formation of a high level political mechanism,” prime minister´s press Advisor Ramrijhan Yadav quoted Bhattarai as saying.
According to Yadav, Bhattarai also admitted his failure to make tangible progress in the peace process despite persistent efforts. The prime minister informed President Yadav that the government has prioritized the peace process, constitution drafting and good governance.
Prime Minister Bhattarai also briefed the president about his upcoming visit to New York to attend the UN General Assembly.
During the meeting, President Yadav expressed concerns over lack of progress in the peace process and constitution drafting and suggested to Bhattarai to expedite the task.
“Everyone praises your intellectual prowess and honesty. People expect a lot from you. So, take initiatives to conclude the peace process and constitution drafting,” the prime minister´s press advisor quoted the president as saying.
