PM vows to support development of sports

KATHMANDU, Oct 12: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal  has vowed assistance for development of the sports sector.


Extending congratulations to the athletes who won medals in the recently concluded 19th Asian Games held in China, PM Dahal urged the athletes for further efforts to secure more medals and perform better. He said this during a program held at his residence, Baluwatar on Wednesday evening.

He said that women athletes performed well in the Games. Nepal would achieve more in the days ahead, he believed, reminding that he had reached Hangzhou to inspire the players.


PM Dahal also announced that players securing medals would be given awards. Similarly, the cricketers will also be awarded by the government, according to him.


"I had announced an award to the athletes for the encouragement. Government has also formulated regulation to this regard. The Finance Ministry will release the amount for award within a week," PM Dahal shared.


Also attending the program were the Minister for Youth and Sports, the Member Secretary of National Sports Council and the Chair of Nepal Olympics Committee, and women athletes who secured medals in the 19th Asian Games.


It may be noted that Nepal won a bronze medal in Women's Kabbadi and a silver in individual Karate event.
