Prime Minister Koirala will attend the 60th anniversary function of the AACC on April 22 and 23 in Jakarta and the 10th Anniversary of NAASP on April 24 in Bandung, according to the prime minister's foreign relations advisor Dr Dinesh Bhattarai.
Indonesian Government, which is organizing the events, has invited 109 Asian and African countries, 16 observer countries and 25 international organizations to participate in a series of events during the AACC. The main activities, such as senior official meeting, ministerial meeting and leaders meeting will be held in Jakarta while other events such as Bandung Walk will be held in Bandung on April 24.
The main objective of the event, according to the organizers, is to evoke the spirit of the young generation and to preserve the spirit of solidarity among the Asian-African countries that had been colonized in 1955.
The first large-scale Afro-Asian Conference, also known as the Bandung Conference, was a meeting of newly independent Asian and African states that took place on April 18-24, 1955 in Bandung, Indonesia. The event is being organized to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the event that subsequently had given birth to the Non Aligned Movement (NAM).
