BIRGUNJ, April 15: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, speaking at a political training program organized by the sub-state committee, Bhojpura, of the Unified Maoists, said that he would address the parliament at the House’s reconvening today. The House started its meeting at 5:05 p.m. [break]
The cabinet had not been able to meet due to objections from the CPN-UML and the opposition Nepali Congress, which said that its demands had not been met by the government.

Pivoting to issues pertaining to the larger narrative of Nepal’s recent political history, Dahal told journalists that miracles were brought about by the people, not by him.
“People think that Prachanda can perform miracles. But it’s not me; it’s the people who bring about miracles; and the Nepali people have brought about some miracles in this country,” he said, adding, “The fact that we have opted for a republican system and that we have ended monarchy are both miracles. The writing of the new constitution will be another miracle.”
Any impediment on the path towards that impending miracle would obviously not be viewed favorably by the PM. The PM was of the view that the recent protest launched by the Janamorcha was meaningless. “That is like expecting the Ganga to reverse its course. There is no alternative other than to go for a republican form of government,” Dahal said.
Then it was time to set the record straight on comments he’s made in the past. The PM asserted that the media had exaggerated his comment on media ownership. “I commented on the global trend of investment and ownership of media, and that comment should not have been interpreted in a way that made it seem like I had referred to Nepal’s context alone,” Dahal said.
PM Dahal arrived in Birgunj on Wednesday morning and met with businessmen, representatives of the Muslim community, and other professionals. He returned to Kathmandu at 2 p.m.
