CHITWAN, May 14: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal today said the people are very much excited about participating in the first fully – powered local level elections taking place in Nepal.

"I already made an appeal yesterday for extensive participation in voting as it is a historic election. From what I have seen, it has made me believe that there will be more votes cast all round than what had been an earlier expectation," PM Dahal said.

The PM cast his vote at 7:08 am at the polling centre 'B' within the premises of the Laxmi Secondary School at Bharatpur Metropolitan City – 4. The PM's daughter Renu Dahal is contesting for the top post of the metropolis.

Responding to a journalist's question, PM Dahal said he cast his vote as per the electoral alliance welded between the Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN (Maoist Centre). As per the alliance, NC will lend its support for Renu Dahal, the mayoral candidate from Maoist Centre, which will in turn reciprocate by supporting NC's Parbati Shah for the deputy mayor's post.

PM Dahal arrived in Chiwan with his family members on Saturday. His daughter Renu and Ganga Dahal will also cast their votes at the same polling centre. PM's better half, Sita Dahal, will be casting her vote at the Lower Secondary School Shantipur at Shivanagar. PM Dahal's Administrative Advisor, Narayan Dahal, will also be casting his vote from the same polling station.
