The apex court on January 18 had issued contempt notice, summoning the prime minister and the attorney general for clarification within seven days, with regard to the government interference in the investigation into the murder of the Daillekh based journalist back in 2004. [break]
Acting on a writ petition filed by Advocate Kamal Prasad Itani of Democratic Lawyers´ Association and Secretary of Nepal Press Union Santosh Neupane, a single bench of Justice Sushila Karki had issued the order against the head of executive and the legal advisor of the government.
In his clarification, the prime minister said he had no intention of acting in any manner that would result in contempt of court and maintained that he had voiced his opinion regarding the case that all wartime incidents should be settled after establishing a truth and reconciliation commission, which is in line with the Comprehensive Peace Accord and the interim constitution.
