The prime minister expressed such views at a function organized to mark the 105th edition of International Women´s Day in Kathmandu on Thursday. [break]
The event was jointly organized by the Federation of Women Entrepreneurs Associations of Nepal (FWEAN) and the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI).
The prime minister also said the government was planning to formulate policies to eradicate discrimination against women in social, economic and political sectors.
“Contribution of women is crucial for the development of a country and the government cannot ignore them,” he said.
Women from different walks of life were congratulated for their contributions to the society.
Bhaskar Raj Rajkarnikar, acting president of FNCCI said: “Women are being marginalized in the country because they do not have access to finance.” He also emphasized the need for introducing programs to develop entrepreneurial skills of women.
