At 6 am Wednesday, doctors at the Rukum hospital declared that the chances of her survival were slim if she was not taken to a better medical facility at the earliest.
It was almost impossible for her poor relatives to take her to Nepalgunj or Kathmandu.

Fortunately, Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal was on a visit to Nepalgunj. Without wasting any time, Kamala´s husband and brother appealed to the local authorities to plead PM Nepal to come to their support.
When former chairman of the District Development Committee and UML deputy-secretary of Rukum Khem Man Khadka called up the prime minister early on Wednesday, the prime minister picked up the phone himself. Khadka pleaded on behalf of Kamala and the prime minister immediately postponed the Cabinet meeting scheduled in Kathmandu and instead flew to Rukum on an army chopper. Kamala, 30, was thus brought to Kathmandu with the help of PM Nepal.
“We had lost all hopes,” said Kamala´s elder brother Man Bahadur Malla. “I am so happy to see that the prime minister cares so much for the people.” Kamala is currently undergoing treatment at the Maternity Hospital in Thapathali. She was facing delivery problems as the child was positioned unnaturally inside her womb.
