VIETNAM, May 10: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli who is on a five-day official visit of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam has visited the Ha Long Bay today.
The Ha Long Bay is a beautiful natural wonder and one of the attractive popular travel destinations in Quang Ninh Province of Vietnam. The name Hạ Long means descending dragon. The Bay is scattered with 1,600 limestone islands and islets and covers an area of over 1,500 sq km.
Visits underway and upcoming visits
This astonishing area was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. The visitors enjoy a wide range of biodiversity with its natural beauty in the Bay.
A community of around 1,600 people lives on Ha Long Bay in four fishing villages: Cua Van, Ba Hang, Cong Tau and Vong Vieng in Ha Long city. Most of them live on floating houses and are sustained through fishing and marine aquaculture in almost all seasons.
PM Oli is leading the Nepali delegation on the official visit at the friendly invitation of the Prime Minister of Viet Nam Nguyen Xuan Phuc. The Prime Minister is accompanied by his spouse Radhika Shakya. Also present in the visit are Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, Chief Advisor of the Prime Minister Bishnu Prasad Rimal, Foreign Affairs Advisor Rajan Bhattarai, Members of Parliament, high-ranking government officials, private sector representatives, and media persons.
