KATHMANDU, June 22: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Saturday instructed the government officials concerned to take action against those involved in keeping lawmaker Resham Chaudhary in the iron chain during his treatment in hospital.


Chetan Adhikari, the press advisor to PM Oli, said that Oli directed Chief Secretary Lokdarshan Regmi to remove the chain from the lawmaker's foot. "The prime minister also urged Regmi to take action against those involved in keeping lawmaker Chaudhary in the iron chain during treatment," he said.

The prime minister's instruction comes amid media reports that lawmaker Chaudhary was taken to Bir Hospital for treatment keeping the iron chain on his foot.


Earlier, Former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai visited lawmaker Chaudhary at Bir Hospital and demanded that iron chain should be removed from Chaudhary's foot. 


Ratriya Janata Party Nepal (RJP-N) lawmaker Chaudhary, main accused in the Kailali carnage that claimed lives of seven innocent people including SPP Laxman Neupane and a toddler in 2015, has been serving a jail term.
