PM Oli honors medal-winning athletes of international competitions

Appreciating the athletes for promoting the country’s prestige on the international stage through sports, PM Oli encouraged them to compete with a high spirit and determination, emphasizing that victory is achievable.

KATHMANDU, Jan 7: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has awarded prizes to the players, coaches and managers of SAFF Women’s Football, Asian Karate and CAVA Beach Volleyball who won medals.


According to the government’s decision on December 13, the medal-winning athletes  were awarded in an event organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports today at the Prime Minister’s residence. After the formation of the government led by PM Oli, the provision of taxes of awards for players and coaches has been abolished.

PM Oli presented awards to Amrita Jaishi, the medal winner of the SAFF Women's Championship held in Kathmandu from October 17 to 30, chief coach Rajendra Tamang and manager Brinda Dewan, and Erica Gurung, the medal winner of the 20th Asian Senior Karate Championship held in Hangzhou, China from September 17 to 23, and chief coach Kushal Shrestha.


Similarly, he also awarded prizes to Kamala Pun, Manisha Kumari Chaudhary, coach Rupesh Kumar Bishta who won CAVA Beach women's and men's volleyball in Thimphu, Bhutan from August 1 to 4.


Meanwhile, appreciating the athletes for promoting the country’s prestige on the international stage through sports, PM Oli encouraged them to compete with a high spirit and determination, emphasizing that victory is achievable. He emphasized the need to get on the field by embodying collective emotions.
