Even though the CPA was signed four years ago, peace process hasn´t picked the pace, he said while speaking at a function organised by the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction on the occasion of World Peace Day on Tuesday.[break]
"I urge political parties, civil society and all to help complete peace process and constitution-drafting," PM Nepal said.
If the three-point agreement signed between the Unified CPN (Maoist) and the CPN-UML is implemented, integration of People´s Liberation Army (PLA) combatants will be over within four months, he said.
Stating that peace secretariats have been established in 67 districts, he said that agreement to bring PLA fighters under the Special Committee has been signed, guideline for army integration has been readied and action plan of rehabilitation is being prepared.
On the occasion, UNMIN chief Karen Landgren said Nepal has made progress in restoring democracy, constitution-drafting and on the issues of human rights.
Stating that all political parties have been supporting the UNMIN, she said that youths should come forward for the establishment of peace as stated by the UN General Secretary in his message on World Peace Day.
Similarly, civil society leader Damanath Dhungana said that countries have been spending the money meant for poor people in purchasing arms and weapons in view of increasing threat of terrorism.
