PM, Maoist top brass discuss budget

KATHMANDU, July 1: Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal held discussions with senior Maoist leaders on the upcoming budget and other contemporary political issues at his residence in Baluwatar on Friday.



UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Vice-chairmen Baburam Bhattarai, Mohan Baidya, Naryankaji Shrestha along with other senior Maoist leaders were present at the meeting.[break]



Likewise, Vice President and Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari, Defence Minister Bishnu Poudel and Energy Minister Gokarna Bista also attended the meeting.



It has been learned that the discussion centered on formulating government programs and policies on the basis of consensus between UML and Maoists, making a people centric budget prioritizing the agricultural sector and also hold talks with other parties for consensus.
