PM Deuba should immediately clarify parliament about SPP: Gagan Thapa

KATHMANDU, June 15: Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Gagan Thapa has demanded clarifications from Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba regarding the State Partnership Program (SPP) proposed by the US government.

KATHMANDU, June 15: Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Gagan Thapa has demanded clarifications from Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba regarding the State Partnership Program (SPP) proposed by the US government.


Speaking in parliament on Wednesday, MP Thapa said that Nepal should not participate in any program involving the strategic interests of any power adding that the SPP was unconstitutional. He said, "We have to work with all powerful nations. However, Nepal is not allowed to participate in any program involving the army.”

He demanded that the Prime Minister should come to parliament and clarify this issue. "The prime minister is also the president of my party. Nepal should not participate in a program with strategic interests like SPP. The PM should reject such agreement with  a straight no,” he said.
