KATHMANDU, Dec 17: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is preparing to convene an all-party meeting. The issue of convening an all-party meeting was discussed during a meeting between Prime Minister Deuba and CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Friday morning.
During the meeting held in Baluwatar, the two leaders agreed that an all-party meeting should be convened at the earliest to lift the obstruction in parliament and discuss various issues including the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact agreement. The two leaders discussed the issue of convening an all-party meeting to help ensure the smooth functioning of parliament, among other national issues, according to Ganga Dahal, who is the personal secretary of Chairman Dahal.

The main opposition party CPN-UML has been obstructing parliament sessions alleging that Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota had discriminated against the UML by refusing to expel 14 UML lawmakers against whom the party had taken action. Amid continuing protests by the UML lawmakers, Speaker Sapkota had earlier put off the House meeting till December 20.
Similarly, the government is planning to table the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact agreement in parliament for endorsement.
