PM Deuba-led delegation to attend 'world leaders' summit'

KATHMANDU, Oct 18: A meeting of the Council of Ministers has decided to form a delegation to attend the 'world leaders' summit' on climate change to be held at Glasgow of the United Kingdom (UK) under the leadership of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

The 26th Conference of Party (COP-26) on climate change is taking place at Glasgow from October 31 to November 12. This is going to be the first foreign visit of Deuba after he assumed office as the prime minister.

The cabinet meeting on Monday decided to provide incentive of Rs 500,000 in cash each to the players and Rs 300,000 to the coach of Nepali football team that came second in the SAFF Championship football tournament held in the Maldives recently, according to Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, who is also the government's spokesperson.

The meeting also decided to grant public holiday to the Muslim community on the occasion of Mohammed Jayanti (1496) on October 19 and endorse the Financial Work Procedure and Fiscal Responsibility (First Regulation), 2078.

The cabinet decided to send the Minister for Labour, Employment and Social Security to participate in the sixth ministerial-level consultative meeting of Abu Dhabi Dialogue and also decided to appoint several gazetted first class officers of various positions as per the recommendation of the Public Service Commission.

The meeting decided to allow the creation of temporary positions in different ministries, said Minister Karki at a press conference organized to make the cabinet decisions public. (RSS)
