KATHMANDU, May 16: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has extended greetings on the occasion of 2566th Buddha Purnima today.
Issuing a message of best wishes on 2566th Buddha Jayanti today, PM Deuba wished world peace, co-existence, tolerance, brotherhood and fraternity in the world.
PM Deuba expressed his best wishes to all and wished that Buddha Purnima would inspire all to promote unity and mutual respect in the entire human community.

The PM said,"I wish happiness, peace and progress to all Nepalis and Buddhist communities at home and abroad on the birthday of Lord Buddha, the apostle of peace, non-violence and compassion."
The full moon day of Nepali month Baisakh coincides with the day when Lord Buddha was born, attained enlightenment and mahaparinirvan (passing away) took place, Deuba said in the message, adding that this day has been inspiring to move towards peace, non-violence, compassion, goodwill and self-realization since ancient time.
"Gautam Buddha is luminary. His teachings and sermons are still relevant, useful and enduring for humans even today," the head of the government asserted in the message.
He viewed that the four Arya Satya (noble truth) and Arya Astangik Marg (The Eightfold Path) were still useful and worthy of emulating even at present. Deuba, in the message, said we should be able to follow the teachings and messages of Lord Buddha into our practical life and make life peaceful and happy.
