KATHMANDU, May 22:  In light of the recent arrest of Kailash Sirohiya, the chairman of Kantipur Media Group (KMG), Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has called for calm, advising the public to refrain from overreacting as the legal proceedings unfold. Speaking after the inauguration of the International Dialogue on Mountains, People, and Climate Change in Kathmandu, the prime minister addressed media queries concerning the high-profile case.

"There is no need to make a fuss about what is going on in the court process," said PM Dahal, emphasizing trust in the judicial process. He responded to allegations of governmental interference in Sirohiya's arrest, dismissing them as unfounded. "That is wrong," he affirmed when questioned if the government had orchestrated the arrest.

The controversy surrounds Sirohiya's arrest on charges related to the misuse of citizenship, which led to his detention and subsequent transfer to Dhanusha for further legal proceedings. The police presented Sirohiya to the Dhanusha District Court today, seeking an extension of his custody for further investigation.

Amidst concerns about the government's role, particularly from those close to Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, PM Dahal reiterated the independence of the court's decision-making. "If he is innocent in the court process, he will get away easily; this is the solution," he said, suggesting that the legal system should be allowed to function without external pressures or commentary.
