LUMBINI, May 23: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has emphasized the government's commitment to transforming Lumbini into a premier destination for world peace and spiritual tourism. Speaking at the 2568th Buddha Jayanti and Lumbini Day celebration, PM Dahal highlighted ongoing initiatives under the Greater Lumbini Development Project, aimed at attracting global Buddhists and enhancing Nepal's religious tourism sector. The project was recently showcased at Nepal’s third investment summit to solicit international investments.

Dahal asserted Lumbini’s potential as a "birthing center" for Buddhists worldwide and as a symbol of peace, unity, and harmony. He also mentioned the government's focus on archaeological explorations and the development of related sites like Kapilvastu, Devdaha, and Ramgrama with international support.

The Prime Minister also announced plans for hosting the Third World Buddhist Summit, building on the success of the 2004 summit, to further promote Buddhist philosophy and education through Lumbini Buddhist University.
