BHAIRAHAWA, March 22: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) Chand group to abandon criminal activities, come within the constitutional fold and work in favour of protection of sovereignty and independence.

He said it was surprising that some people were opposing the government's urging the group not to carry out criminal activities. The PM reminded that the government signed an agreement with the CK Raut group as it gave up the politics of secessionism and joined the mainstream politics.

Prime Minister Oli said so while talking to journalists at the Gautam Buddha Airport today.

Responding to journalists queries, he said office-bearers of the Lumbini Development Trust would be appointed soon and given the responsibility of completing the Lumbini master plan.

"Activities flouting the master plan and pollution in Lumbini would be stopped. The Gautam Buddha's birth place would be developed into a clean and pollution-free religious site," he added.

Oli, who is also the chair of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP), said the party's lower rung units would be unified within some days.

The PM arrived in Rupandehi today in connection with inaugurating the Butwal Medical College and laying the foundation of the Butwal-Narayangadh four-lane road.
