Speaking at a program organised by Sanchar Savings and Credit Cooperative Ltd. in the capital on Saturday, Pandey urged the private sector to suggest the government about program and policies required for increasing export and decreasing import.[break]
He said the government was monitoring whether the cooperatives were operated meeting the criteria or not by forming a committee. Problems could be created in the nation´s economy due to loan invested by cooperatives, he added.
The government is committed to promote journalism and protect the rights of journalists, he said, adding, establishment of the journalism revolving fund and approval of journalism guidelines by the government proved the government is positive towards media persons.
Cooperative movement leader Deepak Prakash Baskota sought the introduction of the government policy to promote cooperatives and said the time has come to review the contribution made by cooperatives to the Gross Domestic Production (GDP).
Former Finance Minister Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat, advisor at the ministry Keshab Prasad Acharya, journalist Harihar Birahi, FNJ treasurer Ramesh Bista and company chairman Bishnu Nisthuri were also among those speaking in the programme.
