Pilot and passengers beaten up after helicopter lands on football ground

SYANGJA, Jan 20: After a helicopter landed on a ground where a football match was underway in Waling of Syangja, the pilot and the passengers were beaten-up.

During the semi-final of the Waling Gold Cup, Cameroon-based Avnier FC Cameroon and Walling FC Junior were competing, when Prabhu Air's helicopter landed on the field.

At first, the players, organizers and spectators wondered if the helicopter had a problem and made an emergency landing. But after learning that the helicopter had landed unnecessarily on the playground, there was a moment of tension.

After that, the spectators present on the ground beat up the helicopter pilot Ramesh Dangol and the passengers for landing the helicopter on the ground without any information.

Chief District Officer (CDO) Gangabahadur Chhetri has also written a letter to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, Pokhara, saying that they have been negligent in this way.

Binod Gayre, Khim Bahadur Thapa, Sushil Giri, Sushil Thapa of Waling Municipality-9 chartered the helicopter and took it to Walling. Dangol said that he landed the helicopter because the passengers were drunk and they pressured him to land the helicopter on the field.

The pilot and passengers were rescued by the police. A police report was also filed against those passengers, but they fled after the incident. The police said that the incident is being  further investigated.
