KATHMANDU, Dec 29: Physical Infrastructure Minister of Sudurpaschim Province, Pathansingh Bohara, was relieved of his post on Tuesday.
Chief Minister (CM) of the province, Trilochan Bhatta, sacked Minister Bohara on Tuesday morning in accordance with Article 169 (II kha) of the Constitution of Nepal, according to Jagdish Joshi, information officer at the Chief Minister's Office.
Bohara belongs to the Oli-led faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) which saw a vertical split last week.
Bohara has kept the ministry for himself for now. CM Bhatta, who belongs to the Dahal-Nepal faction of the NCP, is preparing to appoint a new minister in place of Bohara, according to sources.
The Dahal-Nepal faction holds a majority in the provincial assembly with 38 lawmakers while there are only eight lawmakers who support Prime Minister Oli.
