KATHMANDU, Jan 5: Over the past few days , air quality has been sharply worsening in the Kathmandu Valley where lies the country’s federal capital.
According to the latest data from Drishti Kathmandu, an organization that conducts studies on air pollution, the air quality in the Valley recorded on Tuesday was the worst in the world. The fine particulate matter (PM 2.5) in the air of the Valley was found hovering between 233 and 401.67 microgram per cubic meter.
With the temperature dipping rapidly across the country, the major cities are witnessing deterioration in their air quality.
Meanwhile, the Department of Environment has urged children and elderly to stay inside their houses unless it is absolutely necessary to come out of the house. The department has also urged one and all to take necessary precautions while venturing outside in the Valley.
