"From today (Saturday) onward, the PFN is no longer in existence as it has merged with its parent party CPN (Unity Center-Masal)," PFN Vice-Chairman Lilamani Pokharel told myrepublica.com.
The PFN is a legal front of the party , which was underground until few months ago.
The CPN (Unity Center-Masal) is led by Narayan Kaji Shrestha aka Prakash, who had played a key role in bringing the Maoists into the peace process. He came out in public a few weeks before last year´s Constituent Assembly elections.
The CPN (Unity Center-Masal) had earlier decided to unify with the CPN (Maoist). The PFN has also endorsed its parent party´s unification decision.
The PFN has eight seats in the CA.
The convention formed a five-member committee to inform the Election Commission and CA Secretariat among other state organs about the party´s decision. Members of the committee are Amik Sherchan, Lila Mani Pokharel, Giriraj Mani Pokharel (Minister for Health), Ghanashyam Sharma Poudel and Chandeshwor Shrestha.
