PARSA, July 27: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr Shekhar Koirala has said that an alliance should be made among the political parties so as to benefit the NC in the upcoming federal and provincial elections.

Addressing a press conference organized by Nepal Press Union, Parsa, in Birgunj on Wednesday, Koirala said that the NC should form an alliance so that there is less damage to the party. He also said that the people in Madhesh were happy after the Citizenship Bill was passed by the lower house of the federal parliament.

Koirala said that they are discussing the issue of forming an alliance so that the NC benefits from the alliance. He mentioned that the other parties in the alliance think that everything is theirs and reminded them that the NC is the party that won the most seats in the May 13 local elections. 

Recalling the statement made by late Girija Prasad Koirala, former president of Nepali Congress, he argued that the future of Congress will be bright only if it moves forward with the spirit of consensus, cooperation and unity.
