KATHMANDU, Oct 14: People from various walks of life have expressed condolence over the demise of Founding Chairman of Nepal Republic Media (NRM), Hemraj Gyawali, who passed away on Saturday following a mild heart attack.
Tourism Minister Rabindra Adhikari said that he was sad to learn about the demise of Gyawali. “Gyawali’s dignified role in the Nepali press was much appreciated,” Adhikari said on Tweeter while expressing deep condolence to the bereaved family members and relatives.

President of Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ), Govinda Acharya, and Chairman of Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), Bhaban Bhatta, also expressed deep sorrow over the demise of Gyawali. Acharya and Bhatta have termed Gyawali as the leading figure in the professional Nepali media industry.
Gyawali, Nepal’s pioneer in promoting professional media passed away at the age of 79 while undergoing treatment at Shahid Gangalal National Heart Center where he had been taken to after complaining of chest pain.
