All parties represented in the Constituent Assembly should take concrete initiatives to conclude the peace process before May 28, he said.
“The concept of security is not merely confined to security bodies, it also has connection with politics, economic and development,” he said, stressing the need for strengthening NSC in view of changing time and amending the concept of security.
Saying that the country shouldn’t be trapped in transition period for a long time, he said all parties should work together to end the transition.
At the same program, Defense Minister Bishnu Poudel said, “The country is about to enter in federal system from centralized system. Thus, the concept of security should be made time-bound.”
Maintaining that there is no alternative to promulgating the new constitution through the Constituent Assembly, he said the program was organized to collect suggestions regarding the suitable model of NSC.
Coordinator of NSC and Defence Secretary Nabin Ghimire said questions were being raised at the performance of the country’s security mechanism.
The workshop is expected to come up with the future direction and structure of NSC.
