Pay perks for elected local unit representatives fixed

POKHARA, April 6: Pay perks for the elected representatives of the local units have been determined 11 months after the elections of the local units on Friday.


The pay perks and additional allowances for the elected representatives of the local units have been fixed following the endorsement of the “Bill on Service, Condition and Facilities, 2018” by the meeting of the Provincial Assembly today.

According to the pay perks and allowances fixed by the Provincial Assembly, Mayor of the Metropolitan City will get Rs 43,000 in salary per month while Deputy Mayor will receive Rs 38,000.


Similarly, Mayor will get Rs 2,000 in Daily Subsistence Allowance (DSA), Deputy Mayor Rs 18,000 while the other staffers will get Rs 15,000 as DSA.


Likewise, Municipality Mayor will get Rs 35,000, and Deputy Mayor will get 30,000 while ward chiefs will receive Rs 20,000 in salary. Similarly, Rs 1,800, 1,600 and 1,500 will be provided to Municipal chief, Deputy Chief and other staffers of the municipality as DSA.


According to the Bill, Chief of Rural Municipality will get Rs 31,000, Deputy Chief Rs 26,000 and Ward Chiefs Rs 18,000 in salary and Rs 1,600, 1,500 and 1,400 as DSA ,respectively.


This pay perks shall come into force once the Bill is enacted into law, said Mohan Prasad Regmi, a member of the legislation committee.
