KATHMANDU, Nov 25: The United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs B Lynn Pascoe is visiting Nepal in the first week of December.

USG Pascoe´s discussions in India will focus on a range of regional and international issues.

"While in Nepal, USG Pascoe will assess efforts by Nepal´s political leaders toward concluding key remaining tasks of the peace process and preparing adequately for the departure in January of the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN)," said the statement.

This will be Pascoe´s second visit to Nepal since the Security Council decided in September to conclude UNMIN´s mandate on 15 January, 2011.

According to the statement, Pascoe will particularly take stock of the status of reintegration and rehabilitation of the Maoist combatants and ensure an orderly withdrawal of UNMIN.
