KATHMANDU, Oct 3: Sixteen fringe parties on Sunday urged speaker Subas Nembang to initiate talks between big political parties for a concrete agreement for peace and constitution.

Claiming that the points raised by UCPN (Maoist) and CPN-UML are not concrete, the parties told Nembang that the top three parties should move forward with a concrete agreement on contentious issues and end the political deadlock.[break]

“The points proposed by Maoist and UML for agreement will not work,” Dr Prakash Chandra Lohani, a leader of Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) said after the meeting. “The big parties need to move forward with concrete agreement.”

Dr Lohani also accused the big parties of ignoring a concept paper presented by a taskforce that consisted members from Nepali Congress, UML, RJP and Nepal Communist Party (United). “Even ruling parties, including UML, ignored the concept paper presented by the taskforce,” he said.

NCP (U) leader Chandra Dev Joshi and Prem Bahadur Singh of Samajbadi Party were also present during the meeting at the speaker’s office in Singha Durbar.
