The Election Commission (EC) had asked the political parties to submit their respective amended closed lists by Tuesday. [break]
“All 122 political parties submitted amended closed lists of their candidates,” said EC Spokesperson Bir Bahadur Rai, “We will make the lists of candidates under the proportional electoral system public tomorrow [Wednesday].”
Asked about changes in the amended closed lists, Chief Election Commissioner Neel Kantha Uprety said there were no major changes.
“There might be corrections in the middle names of some candidates, and in the names of some other candidates whose official names and popular names differ,” added the chief election commissioner.
According to EC officials, the commission will paste up the closed lists of PR candidates at its central office in the capital and also publish them in the state-run Gorkhapatra daily.
Altogether 124 political parties out of 130 had filed applications on September 30 to participate under the proportional electoral system in the CA poll, while 122 parties had submitted closed lists of their respective PR candidates on October 4.
As per the calendar of events for the proportional electoral system, one can file compliants against the competency of nominated candidates on October 24 and the commission will take decisions on the issue on October 31.
The commission will issue a notice regarding any removal of candidates from the closed lists on November 7 while candidates who wish to withdraw their candidacy can file applications to that effect on November 8.
The EC will inform the political parties concerned about the withdrawal of candidate names on November 15 and publish the final lists the same day.
