KATHMANDU, Aug 16: Major political forces on Tuesday decided to give two more weeks to the commission on delineating the borders of local bodies to submit its report.
A meeting of leaders from Nepali Congress (NC), CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center) and United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) agreed to that end.
The meeting held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal decided to extend the deadline for the commission to submit its report till the last week of August and reach an understating among the political parties before that .
On the occasion, PM Dahal said that the government was committed to hold local elections and requested all not to cast doubt over constitution amendment and implementation.
“The government is committed to hold polls within mid-April,” he said, “But, we need to reach an accord for that.”
