The banda was called to exert pressure on political parties to draft a new constitution by the set deadline. It was also called to exert pressure on political parties to ensure Tamsaling and Newa states in the new constitution as agreed with the government time and again in the past. [break]
Why did you organize a banda despite the political parties´ commitment not to hold any banda during Visit Nepal Year 2011?
We are not political parties. We had submitted memorandums to the UCPN (Maoist), Nepali Congress and CPN-UML at their central committees, with regard to our demands. They had expressed verbal solidarity with our cause.
What will you do next?
We will announce another phase of our joint protests in a week.
