KATHMANDU, August 13: The ruling parties have agreed to increase nine local units in Province 2 in order to bring the agitating Rastriya Janata Party Nepal (RJPN) onboard the election process.

Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Center) agreed to increase the number of local units Province 2 after a recent Supreme Court order paved the way for the government to increase the number of local units. Increasing local units based on the size of population is one of the key demands of the agitating RJPN. Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal had agreed during a meeting with the RJPN earlier on Sunday to increase the number of local units in order to bring them onboard the election, according to RJPN Joint Secretary Keshav Jha.

According to Jha, the ruling parties have also agreed to put the constitution amendment bill on the agenda of Tuesday's parliament meeting. “House will start discussion on various amendment proposals that have been made in the amendment bill tabled by the government,” Jha said.
