PARSA, May 23:The Parsa border crossing with India has been closed starting Thursday. The checkpoint closure is in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections scheduled for May 25 in West Champaran district of Bihar state.

Dinesh Sagar Bhusal, the Chief District Officer of Parsa, stated that the borders of Parsa district, including the Birgunj customs office, were closed from 6 AM Friday. The Nepal-India border will remain closed until 6 PM on May 25.

"This closure follows the tradition of shutting the border 48 hours before elections in either of the two countries," Bhusal explained. Parsa district shares a 170 km border with India.
