Parliamentary committee passes bill related to citizenship

The State Affairs and Good Governance Committee under the House of Representatives has unanimously passed a bill to amend the Citizenship Act, 2063 BS.

KATHMANDU, June 10: The State Affairs and Good Governance Committee under the House of Representatives has unanimously passed a bill to amend the Citizenship Act, 2063 BS.


The committee meeting held at Singha Durbar on Tuesday endorsed the bill with full consensus.

Committee Chairman Ramhari Khatiwada expressed confidence that the bill would help individuals without citizenship obtain legal status.


He thanked the lawmakers for their cooperation in ensuring the bill's unanimous passage. Khatiwada said that the citizenship-related bill passed by the committee will soon be presented in Parliament for further deliberation.
