KATHMANDU, Feb 19: House of Representatives Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire has said that the attention of parliament has not shifted towards making laws.
Addressing a book release ceremony organized by the Informal Sector Service Center (INSEC) on Sunday to unveil the Nepal Human Rights Year Book 2023, Speaker Ghimire said that the newly-elected lawmakers are yet to focus on formulating laws.
Ghimire was of the view that there is a need to enact many laws and regulations in the country but that has not been done. He added that implementation of the laws also lacked monitoring.
According to the speaker of the lower house, the government is not looking at the parliament properly. Speaker Ghimire said that there were obstacles in work execution. He said that there should be coordination between the executive body and the legislature. He emphasized on the need to find a solution to the problems seen in the implementation of the laws.
