PARBAT, Feb 20: Orange production has increased by around 25 percent in the current fiscal year as compared to the previous year in Parbat district.
According to the Agriculture Knowledge Centre, Parbat, the area for orange farming as well as the production has increased in the district this year.
The district produced 5,000 metric tonnes of oranges from 830 hectares of farming this year. Of it, 4,250 metric tonnes of oranges were exported. Senior Agriculture Development Officer Manita Thapa said the district earned as much as Rs 297 million from exporting oranges.
A total of 4,000 metric tonnes of oranges were produced from 450 hectares of land in the district last fiscal year. Oranges produced in the district are sold in Pokhara, Kathmandu, and Butwal.
Thapa added that favorable weather is one of the reasons behind the increase in orange production this year.
