Paras leaves for Dubai today

KATHMANDU, March 17: National cricket team skipper Paras Khadka is leaving for Dubai on Tuesday to play Emirates Airlines Twenty20 Trophy scheduled for Friday.

Paras will represent Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) for the day-long tournament which will be played in Dubai.


The London-based MCC will play its semifinal match against England’s Sussex County Cricket Club, while other semifinal will be played between other two English clubs -- Yorkshire County Cricket Club and Lancashire County Cricket Club. The winners of the semifinals will vie for the title on the same day.

Meanwhile, skipper Paras, talking to Republica, said that playing for MCC will be a great opportunity for him as well as for other Nepali players.




“I am representing Nepal in the tournament and this event could be a platform for other Nepali players as well in the future,” said Paras, who added that playing with globally acclaimed players would be a nice experience.

English Test player Nick Compton will lead the MCC team, which will also feature England’s former skipper Alastair Cook, Michael Carberry along with James Hildreth, Zafar Ansari, Daryl Mitchell, Sam Billings, Matthew Dunn, Chris Rushworth, Graham Onions and Adam Riley.



Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh is also featuring for the MCC in the tournament.
