Pakistani, Bangladeshi PMs felicitate Nepal

KATHMANDU, May 26: The prime minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, extended felicitations to the newly-elected Nepali prime minister, Madhav Kumar Nepal, on Tuesday.



A statement issued by the Pakistani embassy in Kathmandu quoted PM Gilani as saying, "Your election is a reflection of the trust reposed in you by the people of Nepal. I am confident that under your able leadership, Nepal will continue to march forward on the path of progress and prosperity."



The statement also expressed PM Gilani´s hopes of working closely with PM Nepal and of consolidating the friendship between the two neighboring countries.



Similarly, the prime minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, also conveyed her congratulations to Prime Minister Nepal. In her message, PM Hasina said that Bangladesh attaches high importance to its relationship with Nepal, a relationship that is based on a common history, culture and values, a press release issued by the Embassy of Bangladesh said Tuesday.



PM Hasina has also expressed sincere hopes that Nepal would achieve greater success under PM Nepal´s able leadership and that the aspirations of the Nepali people would be fulfilled by the adoption of a new constitution.
