ISLAMABAD, Aug 22: Pakistan's national security adviser says he is still ready to travel to New Delhi for Sunday's security talks with his counterpart despite fresh tensions between the longtime adversaries.

Sartaj Aziz told reporters in Islamabad that India had yet not officially confirmed cancellation of his planned meeting with the Indian National Security Adviser Ajit Doval.

His comments came a day after India said it would not be appropriate for Aziz to meet with separatist leaders from the Indian-controlled portion of Kashmir. Pakistan's high commissioner to New Delhi had invited the separatist leaders for a meeting with Aziz.

Pakistan and India have a history of tense relations. They have fought two of their three wars over Kashmir since gaining independence in 1947.
