KATHMANDU, April 23: Afforestation has been carried out in the Pashupati area on the occasion of the 37th anniversary of the Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT) today.

Thirty-seven varieties of plants were planted in the Pashupati area as part of the afforestation program.

A special worship was also solemnized on Pashupatinath, Guhyeshwari and Basukinath Temple premises on the occasion.

Prayers and worship were offered at all the three temples with a resolution of national welfare, PADT Spokesperson Rewati Raman Adhikari said. PADT Member-secretary Dr Milan Kumar Thapa, treasurer Narayan Prasad Subedi, member of the Trust Steering Council, executive director Dr Ghanashyam Khatiwada, among the PADT officials, were present on the occasion.

PADT has the policy of planting tree saplings having religious values on the empty space in the Pashupati area. From today, it launched the 'one employee-one plant' campaign, according to which each employee of the PADT will have to plant a tree sapling and take care of it.

The Trust has also been conducting a clean-up program around the Pashupati area as part of its goal to develop it into a major destination for the followers of the Vedic Sanatana Religion from all over the world.
