Compared to the same period last fiscal year, paddy imports have increased by 60.28 percent, with revenue collection surging by 145.23 percent. In the first five months of the previous fiscal year, paddy imports were valued at Rs 2.40 billion.
Similarly, 88.66 million kilograms of rice worth Rs 928.09 million was imported during the first five months of the current fiscal year. This marks a 54.12 percent increase in rice imports and a 20.88 percent rise in revenue compared to the same period last year.
