The lawmakers came heavily over the statement issued by India Embassy in Nepal refuting the media reports. The lawmakers termed the statement as "threatening".

The Indian Embassy in Nepal on Wednesday issued a statement saying the report in Kantipur and The Kathmandu Post dailies was "misleading".

"Customs examination of transit consignments is a routine administrative measure and the imputation of motives in such a matter by two newspapers, who seek to lay claim to responsible journalism, is highly regrettable," the statement said.
