KATHMANDU, Oct 8: A noteworthy achievement has been accomplished, as internet connectivity is now accessible in 85.4 percent of community schools nationwide.
The Ministry of Education and Sports indicates that this technological connectivity has substantially enhanced the educational environment within the country.
Furthermore, information technology (ICT) laboratories have been established in 29.6 percent of public schools, thereby improving the educational experience for learners.
Govt moves against own promise of affordable internet
Pursuant to the 'Presidential Educational Reform Programme,' which commenced in 2077 BS, a combined total of 4,608 schools have gained advantages from the creation of these ICT laboratories so far.
In addition, 69.6 percent of schools are currently supplied by renewable energy sources. Throughout the nation, there are 35,951 schools, encompassing those connected with religious organizations, of which 27,010 constitute public schools.
Regarding physical infrastructure, the post-earthquake reconstruction initiatives commencing from 2072 BS have successfully finished the development of 7,667 schools, with an additional 14 projects in progress.
The Ministry further emphasizes that 216 schools in western Nepal, which sustained earthquake-related damage, are undergoing reconstruction with assistance from the government and multiple development organizations. Additionally, in 36 schools accommodating more than 2,000 students, 12 additional classroom structures are being founded to further strengthen educational infrastructure.
