NTB Director Mani Raj Lamichhane noted a shift in visitor patterns: while the number of tourists from India dropped in September, arrivals from China increased. In September, 22,984 tourists from India visited Nepal, down from 25,832 in August. Conversely, the number of tourists from China rose from 6,614 in August to 8,042 in September.

The decrease in Indian tourists may be attributed to the monsoon season. Meanwhile, 10,084 Americans and 4,915 Sri Lankans visited in September.

The total number of visitors in August this year was 72,719. This number was 91,012 in September 2023, 58,314 in September 2022, and 92,604 in September 2019.

According to the NTB,  Nepal saw the highest number of tourist arrivals in the month of March this year, with 128,167 tourists traveling to the country, and a minimum of 64599 tourists in July. Likewise, 111,376 tourists visited Nepal in April, 90,211 in May, 76,736 in June, 72,719 in August  and 96,350 in September.
