KATHMANDU, Sept 3: Four dead bodies have been retrieved from the landslide debris and 12 others are still missing in a massive landslide that occurred in Bhobang of Dhorpatan Municipality-9 in Baglung district.
According to Prakash Singh Thakuri, Police Inspector at Police Unit Office in Burtiwang, four dead bodies have been recovered from the incident site with the help of locals this morning. The bodies have not been identified yet. “As many as 20 houses have been swept away and some 12 people are still missing,” he said.
Locals believe that the number of people missing in the landslide could be much higher. The rescue teams of Nepal Police, Nepal Army and Armed Police Force along with the Chief District Officer Suresh Neupane are on the way to the incident site.
Likewise, the flood and landslide debris have blocked the normal flow of Bhuji River. People living in the river bank downstream have been asked to stay alert as potential bursts of the dam caused due to the blockage could wash away the settlements downstream.
