Over 172,000 taxpayers receive PAN during mid-July and mid-October

An additional 172,195 individuals and institutions registered as taxpayers in the first three months of the current fiscal year (FY).

KATHMANDU, Nov 4: An additional 172,195 individuals and institutions registered as taxpayers in the first three months of the current fiscal year (FY).



According to the Ministry of Finance (MoF), the aforementioned number of taxpayers received a new permanent account number (PAN) during mid-July and mid-October this year. Of them, 143,744 persons, 27,953 commercial taxpayers and 495 organizations were newly registered in PAN.

In the new development, Nepal now has more than 7.171 million PAN receivers. Among them, 2,088,711 have registered in commercial categories and 5,046,466 have registered in personal taxpayers.  


In the review period, 6,770 firms have registered for value added tax (VAT) and 3,012 firms have registered for excise duty. The total numbers of taxpayers under these headings have reached 358,505 and 128,009, respectively.
