9,475 Nepali citizens experienced paragliding
KATHMANDU, April 18: Statistics show that 16,500 paragliding flights were conducted within one year in Pokhara.
According to the 2023 data released by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, a total of 16,468 individuals experienced paragliding in Pokhara during this period.
Of these, 6,993 were foreigners, while 9,475 were Nepali citizens. In comparison, 14,960 people participated in paragliding activities in Pokhara in 2022.
Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, interest in paragliding remained steady. In 2021, 12,950 flights were recorded, while in 2020, the number stood at 22,275.
The figures peaked in 2019 with 32,522 paragliding sessions. According to the data, while the number of Nepali participants has been steadily increasing, the participation of foreign nationals has been relatively low, though it has not declined significantly compared to around 2019.
Pokhara remains a focal point for paragliding enthusiasts, with over four dozen companies in Nepal dedicated to this adventurous tourist activity.
